ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

This is a fun and practical based 1-day course is suitable for people aged 16+ who might need to provide first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.

The ITC 6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is perfect for school staff acting in a support role to higher qualified personnel and for workplace settings where help can be summoned easily.

This course meets the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, fully compliant with UK government laws and accepted nationwide as a valid qualification.

This regulated qualification is an ideal option for schools or workplace environments.  The course is designed for situations where help can be sought quickly.  It particularly suits staff acting in a support role where they can summon assistance from higher qualified personnel quickly.  The course is aims to give participants the skills to manage a casualty until professional help arrives.

We will be covering

  • Understand the role of the first aider
  • Understand the importance of preventing cross infection
  • Understand the need for recording incidents and actions
  • Develop the skills to assess situations and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponsive
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who has suffered a seizure
  • Administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Use an Automated External Debrilliator (AED)
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, burns and scalds and small splinters
